Create custom file properties for an existing file

  1. On the toolbar, click Open .

  2. In the Look in list, click the drive that contains the file you want.

  3. In the folder list, double-click folders until you open the folder that contains the file you want.

    If you can't find the file in the folder list, you can search for it. Search for files by name

  4. Click the file you want to create file properties for.

  5. Click Commands and Settings , and then click Properties.

  6. Click the Custom tab.

  7. In the Name box, type a name for the custom property, or select a name from the list.

  8. In the Type box, click the type of property you want.

  9. In the Value box, type a value for the property.

    The value you enter must match the selection in the Type box. For example, if you click Number in the Type box, you must type a number in the Value box. Values that don't match the property type are stored as text.

  10. Click Add.
